Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Join a team that makes you feel welcome from the start. At Ground Control you'll learn real jiu jitsu from the first time you put on your white belt, all the way through to black belt. Train for fun, train in your lunchbreak, train for mental clarity, or train for competition. The choice is yours and the support team is waiting for you. Step 1 - turn up!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Teens and Kids
Classes are packed with high energy, new friendships and skills practice. Classes are split into age groups catering to everyone under 18.
Most teens are almost adult sized so with parent and coach permission they often prefer to join our adults classes.
From Jitsy PreSchool to recreational classes and competition class, there's truly something for everyone.
No Gi
No Gi is training without the traditional uniform. Our coaches are experienced in No Gi competition (including MMA) so that you get technical training that works. Whether adding it to your Gi training or if you prefer No Gi on it's own, Ground Control offers multiple adults classes plus one kids class each week.
Classes for Women Only
Whilst we've always had ladies in our mixed classes, we once again have a dedicated "girls only" class, a space to explore, express and evolve. This class is open to all females 13yrs to adult, from beginners to advanced. These ladies are already showing promise on the competition circuit

Fantastic place to learn Jiu Jitsu. Welcoming vibe and great people right through out the gym.
Incredible place to train BJJ!
Bec and Rod are truly outstanding, welcoming, supportive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. From day one, they made me feel part of the team. Before I even had my own gi, they generously lent me one so I could jump straight into training.
They offer seminars very often with top notch athletes which I appreciate as it gives me the ability to learn more and apply this knowledge to my training.
They focus on solutions, not excuses, and it really shows in how they run the gym. The culture is amazing respectful, inclusive, and built on strong values. This is a top-notch environment to learn and grow in your BJJ journey.
Best sport i ever got my family into, built confidence in my son and given my daughters life skills to be able to defend themselves.
This is our home away from home- the confidence and skills my kids have gained from BJJ and the GC team are amazing. A great family business with a great professor. For both competitive BJJ and rec BJJ, Ground Control Academy has the variety of classes. #1 team 🙌🏻
If you're looking for a top notch place to learn real authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school, look no further. The coaches are highly skilled, experienced and passionate about teaching most importantly are approachable & care about your progression.
I have been here for over 2 years I would not have developed my skills as much as I have if it wasn't for Professor Rods coaching & the team at GC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Passionate, dedicated and skilled instructors who make everyone feel included.
My husband and three kids do Jiu Jitsu at GC and we absolutely love it. Rod is an incredible professor, the technique and guidance he gives is unmatched, and the community we’ve found here has been such a gift. The kids have built real confidence, friendships, and skills.
Extremely friendly and welcoming environment. Excellent training partners.
Awesome location, would definitely recommend this gym.
Amazing gym, great coach and very welcoming, thanks again
Amazing gym. Very clean & nice staff.
Ground Control is an outstanding Jiu-Jitsu school that truly stands out for its professionalism, welcoming environment, and high-level instruction. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, the coaches provide clear, detailed guidance tailored to all levels.
The atmosphere is incredibly supportive — everyone from the instructors to the students is respectful, friendly, and focused on helping each other grow. Classes are well-structured, mixing technical drills, live sparring, and insightful explanations that deepen your understanding of the art.
Clean facilities, a strong sense of community, and a culture of discipline and respect make Ground Control the perfect place to train. Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their skills, boost their confidence, and be part of a great team! Oss!
We have 2 kids that train here and love it. Cant keep them away and such a supportive and family orientated environment. Amazing for teaching kids self discipline and confidence while making friends and learning self defence.
If they are into competing you also can’t beat the coaching and dedication from Professor Rodrigo and the team.
The academy is always spotlessly clean and friendly
💯 recommend
Awesome gym with top quality, very technical and friendly coaches. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Great vibes, good rolls and they even have a sauna and ice bath.
Been here for around 12 months tried a few places around the coast and have found my niche at ground control. Good atmosphere good instruction good place to learn Bjj
Ground control is family run by real community minded people. My daughter is a little low in confidence and attends casually. She has slowly grown in confidence since first attending about 18 months ago. I can’t thank them enough and can highly recommend this place 👍
